Date Night

Stephen and I had a date night over the weekend. Stephen called the boss and asked for me to leave at 3:00 Friday. I came home to a glass of wine and Happy Birthday streamers (he was trying to surprise me with an early birthday) We took the babies to Daisy’s and headed to Simply Fondue. Food was really good. We were there for 2 hours. If you ever go make sure you plan to be there for awhile. After dinner he took me to Bass Hall to see the Ft. Worth Symphony perform the music of Michael Jackson. We had great seats about 20 rows back from the stage. I have begged for years to go to the Symphony. He finally made it happen

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and 1st Steps!!!

First let me start off by saying I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! May this year be everything you want it to be and more! I for one do have a new years resolution. Be more present in my life, make better decisions for my family, and gain more control over finances. Spend less and spend more time enjoying life. There are so many things we can do for free that are fun and my goal is to find those things. Wish me luck!

Now for the exciting news!!! Someone took their first steps last Thursday, December 30th!!! And who is that someone? CLAIRE!!! YAY CLAIRE! This weekend Stephen and I worked with her. Last night she gained control of her balance and off she went. She should have it mastered soon. I am so excited I can hardley stand it! She loves to try and walk, thinks it’s a fun game. She loves the attention. We get over excited and clap for her! ha ha ha! Owen is watching her and you can tell he’s ready to figure it all out. I give him another week and he will start trying to walk.

I am having so much fun being a Mommy! I wonder what kind of people Owen & Claire will turn out to be. I pray that I do my best at all times and they will turn out to be great people! Accomplish everything their hearts desire and become good spouses one

Happy Birthday Owen & Claire!

We celebrated Owen & Claire’s 1st Birthday this Saturday. It was an event that’s for sure! I have never seen so many people in my house at one time. At one point I looked up and thought if another person walks in this door my house is going to crash! ha ha! I counted the number of people there and so far my number is 50. WOW! It was more than I ever imagined it could be.

Something happened Saturday. I have held onto this grief, anger, and resentment since the day they were born. I felt robbed of that moment all mothers tell you they have, when they get to hold their child for the first time. I didn’t know how I could ever let go of that feeling. After the party I looked at Owen & Claire and thought this is awesome! I was able to let it go!!!! They are growing up and I am okay with it. I am excited for what’s to come! I didn’t feel sad anymore about them getting older. YAY!

Sunday we stopped at McDonalds and they got their first taste of french fries! Loved them! Wait a minute what am I thinking? They needed carrot sticks lol!

11 Months

So much has happened this month. I started to blog earlier, but got sidetracked.

11/11/2010 Today Owen & Claire are 11 months old. Learning new things daily and taking me by surprise.

11/14 This week Claire learned a new gester. When she is told “no”she looks at you and snarls! At first I thought it was her being funny, but the more I told her no, the more she would snarl at me. This little girl does not like the word NO! After talking to Puff she told me that anytime she tells Owen and Jaxxon no, or the dogs no, Claire will look at her and snarl. I am in for it!

11/21 Birthday pictures!!! Alli came over and took birthday pictures. She always does an amazing job!

11/24 Happy Thanksgiving! We went to Tyler on Thursday. First we stopped by to see Aunt Sheila. She gave us some goodies and took some fun pictures. Our next stop was Grandaddy’s. This was the first time for some of my family to meet Owen and Claire. We had a great time. I regret I have no pictures of this event. And I had my camera. Geeze what was I thinking?

11/27 Owen said a word! YES! And guess what he said? MOMMA!!! YAY OWEN! He also shakes his head no. Claire is pointing at things. Still snarling and has begun to snarl at people she doesn’t know when they say hi to her.

11/28 Owen & Claire are 13 days away from turning 1. I am still dealing with a flood of emotions. A part of me wants to be excited another part of me wants to throw a fit and say NO THIS CAN NOT BE TRUE! I want to turn back the clock and re-live it all over again! I put up the Christmas tree Saturday and found Owen & Claire’s first ornament. Their foot prints on a greeting card that one of the nurses made for them. I cried when I saw them. It brought back all those memories of them being so little. I remember being so sad at Christmas last year. I was excited that I had my babies and they were healthy, but so sad I could not bring them home or with me to celebrate Christmas. This year will be a great year! They will be with me and we get to celebrate our first Christmas at home. Seeing them open presents and getting things from Santa. How I have dreamed of this day!

Right where we need to be!

I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. It’s funny how God allows things to happen so you end up right where you need to be.

We started with our new sitter this week. She prefers to be called Puff, so that’s what we call her. Something I was hesitant to call her because it felt weird calling a grown lady Puff, and really why did she have the name Puff? Turns out, this is her nick name her brother called her when they were little because he could not say Veronica. I learned today he died at a young age, so I would imagine she kept that name for him. Makes sense!

I must say that Puff and her family are the neatest family I have ever met (besides mine ha ha!). She and her husband Chris have 4 girls. The youngest is Gabi, an early bird. She is up every morning I get there making breakfast. Very brilliant and hard-working. She would rather get up early and get her work done so she can enjoy the rest of her day. Then there is the next to youngest, Caitlyn. She is very outgoing. I love engaging in conversation with her. She always has something interesting to say. Then there is Victoria, very shy and reserved, although I noticed when she gets use to you she’s a talker. And last but not least is Chelsea. She the oldest and goes to college. I haven’t had much interaction with her since she works and goes to school.

All in all I love this family! I could not ask for a better family to care for my babies.

10 Months Old

Yep that’s right! Owen & Claire are 10 months old.

Why is it that we can invent self driving cars but we have yet to invent slow down buttons? I need one so bad! This only staying a baby for 12 months is crazy! I need 2 years then maybe, just maybe, I will be okay with them becoming toddlers. HA! I have always had a hard time with them growing. Not sure if this stems from them being in the hospital for the first 3 weeks of their life ( a moment I have yet to get over. Still feel like I was robbed of what should have been MY bonding time) Anywho…that’s a different story.

What are my little monkeys up to these days?

Owen:

Has 8 teeth, smiles non stop even in his sleep, pulls up and is starting to stand and reach for the couch from the coffee table without falling, loves to have a bite of whatever your eating, actually will attack you to get a bite of whatever it is your eating lol!

Claire:

Has 4 teeth YAY!!! Her top two just came in. She’s so adorable! She too like brother pulls up and is starting to stand and reach for the couch or coffee table without falling. She loves to see what your eating and will pull herself up to take a look inside your dish then demands a bite. She’s back to saying Momma! YES! She has since dropped Dada; poor Stephen lol!

We are having so much fun being Mommy & Daddy! This weekend we will celebrate my nephew Jaxxon’s 1st birthday. Owen & Claire were born 9 weeks after he was. This means we are only 9 weeks away from Owen & Claire’s 1st! BOO HOO!!!!
